She was an exquisite painter. She made her living restoring Renaissance paintings for art museums. She travelled extensively because of her work. She was…highly intelligent, optimistic about the human condition. Usually consider it a sign of stupidity but with Irene it seemed…almost convincing. She was, to me, The Woman. To me, she preclipsed and predominated the whole of her gender. The only one I ever—

schweizercomics:

So I’ve been making these paper figures for myself for a while (they’re lining the walls of my studio), and I thought I’d make them available to everyone else. For free. Every Monday. Print the figures out yourself on your own printer, or you can take them to your…

Just a friendly reminder to Sherlockians (and Johnlock shippers) that the original author of the Sherlock books actually intended for Watson and Holmes to be a gay couple, but couldn’t because of the views on homosexuality at the time.
Actually, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle really intended Sherlock Holmes to be a robot, similar in design to CP30. John Watson was a mad scientist who invented the robot, intending to have him act as a sort of butler/housewife since Watson couldn’t keep a real wife and even when he did they kept calling him “James”. Holmes eventually developed code of his own that allowed him to process thought without Watson’s assistance, but a severe nanode addiction caused him to malfunction more often than usual, resulting in him shouting, “ELEMENTARY, MY DEAR WATSON. ELEMENTARY, MY DEAR WATSON” whilst sparks would fly out of his eye sockets.
The real detective and crime-fighter was supposed to be Irene Adler, the charming opera singer from New Jersey who was also a werecat.

I challenge someone to write a Sherlock fic
teahigh:
that is exactly 1234 words long. And those numbers should have some significance in the fic. You should submit it to my ask box. There will be a prize. I don’t know what the prize will be yet, but there will be one. Possibly a graphic of some sort.
Alternatively, write one that is 12,345 words long. Or 123,456 words long. But that won’t fit in an askbox.
Reblogging this for a signal boost, and also to add a note: Stories do not have to be directly deposited into my ask box in story-form. Links to AO3/LJs/FF pages are also acceptable and encouraged!
To make this more official, I will make winners a graphic of some sort that pertains to their fic. You can find my graphics here. I realize this is not really a superawesomecool prize or anything, but I am very firmly in the fanfiction-should-be-free boat and therefor due to my moral obligations I’d feel skeevy offering cash prizes. Sorry.
I realize contests need some sort of deadline, so. How about October 31st? Not because it’s Halloween, but because it’s the end of the month and NaNo starts in November. Sound good?
Also it is very important that you all know that I am currently writing this with a cat sleeping on my arms.
